“Ladies and gentlemen, I am Skiler Soars your flight attendant, welcome to flight 1234 to Milan, Italy, on behalf of the crew I ask that you please direct your attention to the monitors above as we review the emergency procedures. Oxygen masks will drop down from above your seat. Place the mask over your mouth and nose, like this. Pull the strap to tighten it. If you are traveling with children, make sure that your own mask is on first before helping your children…”
Why does the flight attendant instruct the passengers traveling with children to place the oxygen mask on themselves first? Simple, because a child can’t survive without their parent.
In life, the same concept applies.
How in the world are you possibly expected to help others if you yourself aren’t good personally, professionally, and/or spiritually?
It’s all about having the proper mindset. Taking care of yourself is not selfish, but rather an act of love for those that depend on you.
So you first, but unselfishly.
